Death by Valentine's Day

As we all know, Valentine's day is coming up. If you are like me, you are dreading this horrid holiday. DSoesn't anyone ever wonder who's idea it was to make this a national holiday? Yes I know the story of St. Valentine yadda yadda ya. But still, a national holiday to make the couples happy and the single people miserable? So to make all of your Valentine's days better, I have written a little story just for the Valentine's day haters like me. To show that "I love you" is the spark before the fire that will burn you to ashes. Love the feedback please comment :)

The wet blades of grass felt cold and icy against her back as she laid there waiting. She thought of how he could leave her there waiting for so long. Staring at the stars, all alone in the cold dusk of the night. Propping herself up on her elbows, she looked around at the abandoned soccer field. Still there was no sight of his tall athletic body anywhere in small field. About ready to give up she heard the cracking of twigs and leaves behind her.
"I'm so glad you came." A small smile played across her lips while the sounds of footsteps came closer. Every footstep of his kept arousing her in excitement.
"Sorry I'm so late. Are you cold?" His voice was low and seductive. Waiting for the answers he wanted to hear.
"Nothing that you can't fix." Butterflies flew around in her stomach begging to be released from their cage. His perfectly tanned face blocked her view of the stars. And had she known that would be the last time she saw their twinkling beaut, she would have paid more attention to their beauty.
"I'll see what I can do" His face was inches from her lips and his warm body was pressing tightly against hers. His soft lips pressed against hers gently and then more fierce and hungrily trailing down her neck to her collerbone. "Tell me what i want to hear." His voice was a low hungry roar. He was a tiger waiting to eat his dinner, and she was the poor, innocent prey.
"I love you." She said the words desperately and without thinking. No, she didn't love him. She wanted to love him, and she wanted him to love her. Only, he didn't return the words. He didn't return any words at all. "Don't you love me?"
"Can't you tell?" He met her eyes with a deep lying gaze. And it was her own vulnerabilty that believed his decieving eyes. "Why don't I just show you?" His hands trailed down her soft body, exposing her fragile self. Then he took everything she had from her and shattered it with his hands.
They laid their on the grass together, one out of love, the other out of lust. But as he laid there holding her, he knew he wanted more. He had already taken her innocence, already penetrated her silent body, and he still wanted more. He wanted more from her. He wanted her life.
"What are you doing?" She was still in the euphoric trance that his touch left her. So she just watched in bliss at him as he reached into his back for a bottle of liquor and a small zippo lighter. At the sight of the lighter she started to feel a little unease. And suddenly the euphoric trance started to wear off. "Why do you have a lighter? What are you doing--"
"Shh. Calm down. Don't worry. It's all part of the plan."
"What plan? Hey stop what--" The liquor slpashed on her face and she started to choke to chatch her breath. "Stop-this is't funny-No! What-" She watched in horror as he held the lighted zippo in his hand. Looking from his hand with the zippo to his face, she tried to scramble to her feet.
The lighter left his hand. Before she even had time to blink her frail body lite up in flames. The fire instantly searing her flesh, her muscle, her bone. She opened her mouth to scream but the flames englufed her, burning her lungs like rice paper. So she laid there helpless and burning, staring in the face of a monster. Pleading with her eyes, asking, wondering how he could do this. In her last seconds she saw the faintest movement in his lips.
"Love burns." His tall frame turned and headed away getting smaller and smaller by every passing second. The smoke trailing towards the sky in the shape of a heart. Her love, to be forever lost in the world.
